Online Safety Lesson

Objective:

Students will learn seven online safety rules.

Classroom Materials:

1. Computers w/Internet connectivity
2. Infocus projector
3. Signed Parental Permission forms
4. Handout of the seven online safety rules

Lesson:

1. Before students arrive in the lab add the safekids.com safety quiz to Internet Explorer Favorites
2. Using my own computer (w/Infocus display) identify and click on the Internet Explorer Icon.
3. Have students click on the icon on their computers.
4. Demonstrate selecting a “favorite”
5. Have the students select the safekids quiz from the “Favorites” on their pc.
6. Have the kids click on “begin”, and proceed through the quiz one question at a time.
7. Pause to discuss answers.

Results/Evaluation

1. Students have the “Congratulations” screen displayed on their computer, indicating all of the questions were answered correctly.
2. Cruise lab to check all student PCs.
